VP of US Merchant Marketing, American Express
Debra Filtzer has just been named the new Vice President, U.S. Merchant Marketing Strategy in Global Merchant Services. In this role, Debra will transform the way American Express delivers and communicates value to the U.S. proprietary merchant base.
Debra has been with American Express for 10 years. She was previously Director of Marketing in U.S. Small Merchant Services, where she developed new programs, products and interactive digital content to create brand evangelism. Debra has also led events marketing for the Commercial Card organization and premium customer marketing for top small business Card Members. In her first job within the small business Card group, Debra spearheaded numerous brand, acquisition and loyalty campaigns and launched the award-winning Make Mine a Million program.
Prior to American Express, Debra was a co-founder of Springboard Enterprises, a national venture catalyst organization that connects women entrepreneurs to investors. She developed and produced 30+ venture capital forums, bootcamps and educational programs, helping 300+ women-led firms raise $2B+ in equity capital. Prior to Springboard, Debra was Program Manager at the National Women’s Business Council, a federal advisory commission.
Debra’s previous work experience includes marketing for an innovative technology start-up, setting up early stage venture capital and angel funds, managing political consulting firms and working with political action committees. Debra received her BA in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government from The American University in Washington, DC and sits on the Council of National Advisors for Springboard 2000 Enterprises Inc. She resides in New York, NY.
