Renee Dua, MD is a nephrologist and repeat healthcare founder. She is the Founder and CEO of Cara AI, a platform that completes state-mandated health assessments for health plans serving older and dual-eligible members. Cara helps members age in place, avoid unnecessary emergency visits, and reach the benefits that support their wellness. Renee has built and exited two prior companies. She co-founded Heal, a home-based primary care company acquired by Humana, and Together, acquired by Cairns Health. Across both, she worked at the intersection of clinical care, health plan economics, and go-to-market to payers. She continues to practice nephrology, which keeps her close to the daily realities of aging patients and their caregivers. That clinical grounding shapes how she builds products and how she advises other founders. Renee brings operating experience in fundraising, payer contracting, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and long-term services and supports. She is drawn to women-led companies solving hard problems in aging, and she gives direct, practical feedback that helps founders move faster.
