Chief Executive Officer Role
Springboard is seeking a visionary nonprofit business leader skilled in driving organizational success and empowering high-performing staff. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be based remotely and will have overall management responsibility for a growing, impactful organization. Springboard’s CEO will take a hands-on approach to capacity and community building as a primary goal. The CEO will focus on building out the internal development function to create a financially sustainable organization; expanding the marketing function; leveraging the substantial number of Springboard entrepreneurs to strengthen its interactive community; launching new accelerators in cutting-edge industries; and building the team and culture needed to sustain the organization’s momentum.
Responsibilities
Executive Leadership and Organizational Management
- Provide thoughtful, engaged, and visionary executive leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
- Present and pursue strategic options, and establish goals, objectives, and operational plans for organizational impact, gaining Board approval as needed to carry out the mission of the organization.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure its overall successful long-term operations.
Board Governance
- Maintain ongoing communication to build strong relationships with the entire Board, providing leadership and support to members.
- Communicate effectively with the Board by providing necessary information to facilitate proper functioning and informed decision-making in a timely and accurate manner.
- Plan and attend Board meetings, providing reports and updates on staff, current work, project timelines, and organizational progress.
Development and Fundraising
- Build, lead, and manage a strategic Development department capable of addressing fundraising through philanthropy, grants, sponsorships, and in-kind support.
- Initiate, cultivate, and extend relationships with the organization’s portfolio of individual, foundation, and corporate supporters.
- Ensure the success of the Annual Gala Awards evening, a key event for Springboard fundraising.
Community Building
- Provide strategic leadership to build support from the over 900 Springboard entrepreneurs in our network.
- Execute a community-building plan that focuses on the needs of female founders.
- Research, select, and implement community engagement technology for effective communication and data capture.
Financial Management and Administration
- Prudently direct resources and manage all financials within budget guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and administer the annual budget with Board approval.
- Ensure financial stability and sustainability through healthy cash flow and adequate reserves.
External Relations, Communications and Collaborations
- Represent the organization and serve as chief spokesperson publicly at events, conferences, and partnership meetings.
- Ensure high visibility to prospects and the public, and build interest in engaged philanthropy.
- Manage all aspects of the organization’s marketing and public relations.

Experience and Qualifications
Candidates may emerge from nonprofit, foundation, government, or industry backgrounds and should possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree is a plus.
- Five years+ of prior experience as a CEO, Executive Director, or in a related position at a nonprofit, foundation, government, or industry
- Strong business acumen and a history of visionary and operational leadership at the executive level.
- Proven experience leading and driving a Development organization, including personal experience in a fundraising role.
- Proven experience successfully leading a full array of organizational functions such as Technology, Marketing, Public Relations, Human Resources, etc.
- Experience and success in motivating, recruiting, developing, retaining, and mentoring high-performance, mission-driven, and results-oriented teams.
- Excellent written, oral, and public speaking skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with strong interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

This career opportunity offers a strong starting base salary commensurate with market rates and experience, as well as a full benefits package.
