Giovanna Tyndale obtained her BA in Anthropology from the University of Virginia in 2020. Her concentration in medical anthropology, ethics, and care, and her minor in bioethics led to an interest in public health.
Graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic inspired Giovanna to focus on improving health services in communities of color. The pandemic provided an opportunity to work for the non- profit Physicians for Social Responsibility – Los Angeles and collaborate with Environmental Justice advocates in the community. Through this experience, Giovanna discovered the importance of advocacy and support to improve community health. She was inspired to attain another degree to enhance her ability to help solve public health challenges in under-resourced communities.
Currently, Giovanna is pursuing a master’s degree in public health (MPH) from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and she hopes to share her knowledge of public health and passion for advocacy with the Springboard team.
