Laurie A. Burlingame is a partner in corporate business transactions and life sciences groups at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP, a multinational full-service law firm with offices across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Ms. Burlingame leverages advanced degrees in neurosciences and business administration and her extensive knowledge of the life sciences and technology industries to solve legal problems involving complex transactions for life sciences and technology clients. She has assisted clients in a broad spectrum of transactions in the life sciences industry, including venture capital financings, initial and follow-on public offerings, de-SPAC transactions, mergers and acquisitions, including build-to-buy transactions, exclusive licenses, as well as strategic collaborations and commercial transactions. She regularly serves as outside general counsel to clients, advising management teams and boards of directors on various matters throughout the lifecycle of such company, including formation and founder issues, corporate governance, including stockholder rights, disclosure requirements, and other corporate matters.
Laurie has an active pro bono practice, and in 2024, won the Nery Arrano Pro Bono Award from the Women’s Bar Foundation of Boston for her work with survivors of domestic abuse. She is a lecturer of law at the Boston University School of Law, where she teaches a transaction simulation course that she developed on Collaboration Agreements in the Biopharmaceutical sector. Ms. Burlingame is active in several nonprofit organizations, serving on the boards of directors for Sitters Without Scholars and Families for Depression Awareness. In addition, she is a mentor and speaker for various university and incubator programs and maintains membership in local technology and medical associations.
