Marija Butkovic is a lawyer-turned-entrepreneur, innovation and business consultant, journalist, and advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech sector.
With 15+ years of experience as a consultant, she loves working with innovative companies, supporting them in marketing, PR, community building, market research, and business growth. Her clients include corporations, universities, tech companies, and startups, and she has worked with organizations such as Abbott, Philips, Google, McKinsey, and AWS.
She is the founder and CEO of Women of Wearables, a leading global organization and ecosystem by and for women and allies in life sciences, particularly in women’s health, digital health, and biotech.
Marija is also a jury member at the European Innovation Council and an advisory board member for the Women’s Health Innovation Series—the leading platform for key industry players in women’s health innovation. She is a recognized thought leader shaping the future of women’s health in Europe, the U.S., and globally. She has participated as a Steering Committee Member for the Innovation Equity Forum, a joint project by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). Additionally, she is a Leadership Council Member at the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe), a global non-profit based in Boston that serves as the professional home for the digital medicine community. She is also a member of the Digital Health Council at the Royal Society of Medicine in the UK and a former Forbes contributor, where she covered topics related to women’s health and female-led innovation.
Marija has been featured in major tech and business publications such as TechCrunch, The Next Web, and Huffington Post and has been recognized as one of the Most Influential Women in UK Tech by Computer Weekly (2018–2024). She holds an LLM degree from the University of Law in Rijeka, Croatia.
