Rachel Sha is an Operating Partner at The Engine, a venture fund spun-out of MIT that invests in Tough Tech companies tackling human health, climate change, and advanced infrastructure and system challenges. She advises portfolio companies in strategy, pitching and fundraising, partnering, and organization building. She also works with The Engine Fund team in exploring investment themes, evaluating new investment opportunities, and in programming. Outside of The Engine, she advises startups developing digital health products and AI / ML solutions to transform therapeutic R&D. Prior to this, she spent 17 years at Genzyme and Sanofi in leadership roles in business development, strategy, and commercial across a range of disease areas and modalities. Her last role was as the Global Vice President of Digital Strategy, Partnering and Governance at Sanofi where she led global strategy, business development, and governance of digital programs to transform Sanofi and healthcare. She and her team partnered with leaders such as Exscientia, Owkin, Ping An, Sema4, Evidation Health, TriNetX, Happify, Aetion amongst many others. Additionally, she serves on the Life Sciences and Digital Health Council of Springboard Enterprises and is an advisor to Mass Next Gen, both of which focus on developing women entrepreneurs. She was recognized as a 2021 HBA Luminary. Rachel holds a BS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Chemistry and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
